An Ode to Summer

The boys had dentist visits yesterday and all is well. Then last evening #2 lost another tooth. He is a very slow tooth loser, as I have explained before, and so it is a glorious event when he loses one.

This is the last week of classes for me, and I just finished my last presentation. We have been studying poetry for 5 weeks now in Middle School. Tomorrow we will discuss the use of poetry in politics. I know that sounds strange, but poetry has been used for centuries to portray political beliefs.

Remember Ring Around the Rosy? It's about the Black Plague. Rock-a-Bye Baby? King John of England. The Lorax? Environmental Education. Yertle the Turtle? Hitler.

It should be a good class. And hopefully it will be a good summer too!
