Envirothon Days

We have been studying hard for Envirothon lately. About a week ago we had a competition within the county and our team placed second! The #1 team was a team last year, too, so it makes sense that they would beat us out. We will just have to study harder.
I spoke with the other team's coach and asked what kind of things they do to prepare. The team was just put together a couple of weeks ago, and they aren't allowed to take field trips. They are in public school. Their teacher goes to church with a couple of boys on our team, and she told them Sunday that she was so jealous of the opportunities our team has had.
Going to Goose Creek has been a great field trip several times now. We went to study forestry in the fall, and this winter we have gone to study wildlife. We ended a couple of the learning sessions with hikes through the woods. The recent snows made a great addition to the surroundings according to the boys.
We were to go to Goose Creek on Weds. this past week, but we had snow again. The whole county closed school, so the event at Goose Creek was cancelled. We will be able to reschedule it for this Tuesday though.
What sorts of things do we do? Look at bear skulls of course! Envirothon has turned out to be interesting and a super addition to the science curriculum. I found out that I can get extra training this summer at a four day workshop. I certainly plan to take advantage of that! Let's Go Dirty Coon Foresters!!
