Proverbs

Today the boys start reading Proverbs for their Bible study in school. They just finished Song of Solomon/Songs, and weren't too excited. "It's a love story! Why do we have to read that?!" So today #1 reads chapters one and two of Proverbs. He finishes, looks up and says, "That wasn't what I thought it would be. I read my Bible's introduction and it said it would be sayings about wisdom and life." I explained that later in the book it would be sayings like that and read one for him: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. "That sounds like something you walk up on a mountaintop to hear some guy tell you. Sort of like a fortune cookie." Good Bible commentary from the doctor's son, don't you think? ------
